Whiskey In The Morning

We come home each night at 5:00,
Never sure of what we'll find,
Brandy in the kitchen,
Or leftover wine.

Events of the past,
Are so much clearer now,
Whiskey in the morning,
And voices kept so low.

We love you so, but you're a stranger to us,
What more do we have to prove?
Husbands and friends, it never ends,
You keep hurting the people you love.

Well, it's not because our house is small,
That our friends rarely come by.
We're afraid of what they'll see in you -
We never tell them why.

Often our father sits alone,
Thought he liked to read his book.
Now I know why he's really there -
He's afraid of that guilty look.

We love you so, but you're a stranger to us
What more do we have to prove?
Husbands and friends, it never ends,
You keep hurting the people you love.
Yes, you keep hurting the people you love.

And first thing in the morning,
You never feel too good.
I wanted to share my thoughts with you,
Now I know why I never could.

For those of you out there,
It's very hard, we know.
To help the one you love,
You have to love, and let go.

We love you so, but you're a stranger to us
What more do we have to prove?
Husbands and friends, it never ends,
You keep hurting the people you love,
Yes, you keep hurting the people you love.
Please stop hurting.......Please stop hurting......
